CHIBA – Mitsutaka Goto homered twice and drove in four runs and Chad Allen contributed with three RBIs on 4-for-5 hitting as the Orix Buffaloes pounded the third-place Chiba Lotte Marines 10-4 in the Pacific League on Monday.
Orix jumped all over Lotte starter Naoyuki Shimizu, who was chased after allowing three runs and nine hits in 3 2/3 innings. Lotte took a 3-0 lead in the second, featuring Toshiaki Imae’s two-run homer before Orix tied it in the fourth.
Chihiro Kaneko (5-2) allowed four runs — two unearned — in 5 1/3 innings for the win.
Goto had a solo drive in the fourth and a three-run homer in Orix’s four-run fifth. Veteran Satoru Komiyama (3-1) was roughed up for six runs in one-plus inning. Each of Orix’s starting nine had at least a hit in a 20-hit onslaught.

At Sapporo Dome, league-leading Hokkaido Nippon Ham and second-place Softbank played each other to a draw in their last game against each other this season.
Trailing 4-2 in the seventh, the Fighters scored one run on Atsunori Inaba’s groundout and Eiichi Koyano had a run-scoring double the next inning to tie the game, eventually forcing extra innings.
Hawks closer Takahiro Mahara pitched four shutout innings from the ninth.

At Fullcast Stadium, Hisashi Iwakuma carried a shutout into the ninth inning and Koichi Isobe chipped in with two RBIs, including a solo homer, in going 3-for-4 in Tohoku Rakuten’s win over Seibu.

At Yokohama Stadium, Takahiro Saeki hit a two-run go-ahead double in the eighth inning off ace closer Kyuji Fujikawa and Hanshin fell to its fifth straight defeat.

At Tokyo Dome, Hirokazu Ibata and Masahiko Morino drove in five runs between them, helping Chunichi leapfrog Yomiuri into the league lead.
