During the early 1970s Herbie Yamaguchi moved to London, where he lived for 10 years taking photos of the city's vibrant music scene, and it was his book titled "London" that put his photography in the spotlight.
Back in Japan, Yamaguchi continued to show an interest in music and he collaborated with a number of prominent singers, including Masayoshi Yamazaki and Masaharu Fukuyama. His work also gravitated toward taking images of everyday life as he tried to depict an optimistic point of view in the face of Japan's disasters and economic malaise. His monochrome photos often depict people as they move forward in life reflecting their resilience and hope; till March 31.
