KYOTO – A French businessman was killed Sunday morning in Kyoto after he was hit by a tour bus in a crosswalk, police said.
Paulo Pereira, 35, had been in Japan since Tuesday for job training at the Kyoto factory of Mitsubishi Electric Corp., they said.
Police arrested the driver of the bus, Koji Ikeda, 53, on suspicion of professional negligence resulting in death.
Pereira was a local employee of Mitsubishi Electric in France.
The cause of the accident is under investigation, police said.
