Miho Takagi won her first World Cup tournament on Saturday in the women's 1,000 meters, logging 1 minute, 15.25 seconds to edge Jorien ter Mors of the Netherlands by 0.11 second.

Takagi topped the podium a day after taking third in the 3,000 in Kazakhstan, coming home without slacking up and raising her arms in the air convinced of victory.

Takagi also helped Japan to first place in the women's team pursuit with a time of 2:57.75, 4.78 seconds ahead of the Netherlands (3:02.53). Russia was third (3:02.78).

Japan also won the men's team pursuit, logging 3:44.10 to finish ahead of Canada (3:44.95) and Poland (3:45.04).

Takuro Oda was third in the men's 1,000 meters for his first podium finish after clocking 1:09.06.
