Yu Kimura will get his first crack at a world title when he takes on WBC light flyweight champion Pedro Guevara in November, his gym said Friday.

Third-ranked Kimura and Mexico's Guevara will face off at Xebio Arena in Sendai on Nov. 28, five days after Kimura's 32nd birthday.

"A great stage is set for me and I am excited," said Kimura. I want to make sure I take this chance."

Guevara defeated Akira Yaegashi to win the light flyweight crown at the end of last year. He beat Yaegashi with a seventh-round knockout, preventing him from winning world titles at three different weight categories in the process.

Kimura has a record of 17-2-1 (3 knockouts).

The 26-year-old Guevara, who will be making his third defense of the title, is 26-1-1 (17 KOs).
