The Japan Football Association will build a ¥4 billion training facility at Makuhari Seaside Park in Chiba Prefecture, sources told Kyodo News on Thursday.

The new facility — to be called the JFA National Football Center — is scheduled to be completed by 2021, when the JFA celebrates the 100th anniversary of its founding.

The center, which will be accessible from both Haneda and Narita airports, will be made up of several pitches — both natural and artificial — as well as accommodations and a medical facility.

Chiba Gov. Kensaku Morita said in a press conference Thursday that the JFA had put in a request to build such a center.

"This will lead to a surge in sport in Chiba Prefecture," Morita said.
