World and Olympic men's champion Yuzuru Hanyu will probably skate at this week's NHK Trophy, his coach, Brian Orser indicated on Tuesday.

Hanyu suffered a contusion on his left thigh on Nov. 8 when he was bloodied in a collision with China's Han Yan during a warm-up skate at the Cup of China. Hanyu, who returned to Japan the following day, was expected to miss two to three weeks due to his injuries.

The Canadian coach said he would check out Hanyu's condition in practice on Wednesday but that there was a high probability Hanyu would compete in the NHK Trophy, the sixth event in this year's Grand Prix Series. The competition begins on Friday at Osaka Namihaya Dome.

According to Orser, Hanyu returned to the ice about 10 days ago and is already in Osaka.
