New York Mets right-hander Daisuke Matsuzaka allowed two hits in five innings on Thursday in his third rehab appearance while on the disabled list due to inflammation in his pitching elbow.

Pitching in a Single-A game for the Brooklyn Cyclones against the Staten Island Yankees, Matsuzaka struck out seven and pronounced himself fit to return to front-line duty after 72 pitches.

"I am not concerned about how the game went. Without regard to the batters I was facing, I just made my pitches," said Matsuzaka, who also pitched on Aug. 11 and 16.

"I don't know what is next. I've been off for nearly a month, so there's no problem from a physical standpoint of either starting or relieving."

The 33-year-old is 3-3 with one save this season in 28 games with a 3.87 ERA.
