The Olympic Council of Asia announced Friday that Hanoi has officially withdrawn as host of the 2019 Asian Games.

A replacement city will be decided upon on Sept. 20, during the upcoming Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea. But according to Tsuyoshi Aoki, the executive director of the Japanese Olympic Committee, Japan will not take on that burden.

"Coming to Japan would be impossible," Aoki said.

That year, Japan will host the Rugby World Cup as well as a number of other test events to prepare for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

"I doubt even a city in another part of the country would do it," Aoki said.
