Reigning Grand Prix Final men's figure skating champion Daisuke Takahashi said Saturday he plans on retiring after the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics.

"I think my amateur career will end with Sochi," said the 26-year-old Takahashi, who took part in an ice dance exhibition the same day at Osaka Namihaya Dome. "I want to enjoy the little time I have left, and give it my all without any regrets."

Takahashi, who is enrolled at Kansai University Graduate School, won the bronze medal at the 2010 Vancouver Games and was crowned world champion the same year.

For now, his sights are set on winning the world title in London, Ontario, in March.

"My quad jumps have returned to form, so I want to make them as sure as can be," he said.
