Mixed martial artist Satoshi Ishii shredded the competition on Saturday, defeating all of his opponents by ippon in the men's open category at the judo U.S. national weight class championships.
Competing in the sport for the first time since winning the over-100 kg title at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, the 24-year-old Ishii won his first match by default before throwing Kyle Vashkulat, ranked 27th in the world at 100 kg, with a body-drop technique in the second match.
He disposed of Adrian Alonzo next in the semifinals with a sliding collar strangle and topped off a dominant performance with an inner thigh throw just nine seconds into the final against Jacob Stromecki.
"I want to present this victory to the victims of the earthquake that hit eastern Japan," said Ishii, who donned a cloth with the message, "Fight Tohoku" on the back of his judo-gi.
