A South Korean man arrested in Japan last week in connection with an alleged explosion at Yasukuni Shrine in Tokyo in late November said he put "some kind of device" in the shrine's restroom, investigative sources said Wednesday.

The Metropolitan Police Department asked for cooperation from their South Korean counterparts through Interpol on Monday.

Jeon Chang-han, 27, has changed his story, so investigators say they are working to compare the evidence with his past statements. Jeon at one point admitted to setting off explosives at Yasukuni but now denies involvement.
