A box containing dried feces was found at the South Korean Consulate General in Yokohama on Saturday, Yonhap News Agency reported, quoting consulate officials.

The box, measuring 35 centimeters long, 15 cm wide and 5 cm tall, was discovered by a consulate official in the parking area outside the building, according to the report.

A note on the box read, "This is revenge for the blast in Yasukuni," together with the name of a Japanese organization that has led anti-Korean protests.

The box was reported to the Kanagawa Prefectural Police and was collected by a bomb disposal unit for inspection.

The police identified the contents of the box as dried feces, although it is unclear yet whether it is human or animal, the officials said.

The police have also begun to analyze CCTV footage showing a man throwing a box over the wall into the consulate grounds around 1 p.m. on Friday.

Late last month, a blast occurred at a public restroom at Yasukuni Shrine in central Tokyo, which is viewed by neighboring Asian countries as a symbol of Japan's militarist past. A South Korean man has been identified as a suspect.
