Japanese retailer Aeon Co. said Wednesday it will gradually resume operations at its shopping mall in Tianjin, China, from Sept. 20 following huge explosions in the port city last month.

Aeon Mall Tianjin TEDA, located around 2 kilometers from the scene and which suffered broken doors and windows in the Aug. 12 blasts, will first start selling food and other daily goods on the first floor, with a full restoration slated by early November.

The blasts in Tianjin, one of the world's biggest ports and home to manufacturing operations for a number of Japanese firms, affected many companies, including Toyota Motor Corp., which also put its operations on hold temporarily.
