Spring Airlines intends to increase the number of Chinese destinations from Kansai International Airport to more than 20 from the current six within the next half-decade, with the number of weekly round-trip flights reaching 100.
"This will contribute to cultural and economic exchanges between Japan and China," Spring Airlines Chief Executive Officer Zhang Xiuzhi told a news conference Tuesday at a hotel at the airport located near the city of Osaka.
The low-cost carrier entered the Japanese market by launching Shanghai-Ibaraki flights in July 2010 and now serves Kansai International and four other Japanese airports.
