The body of a woman in her 20s or 30s was found in a corrugated carton on a roadside in Sano, Tochigi Prefecture, according to police.
The body, which was found at around 11:20 a.m. Monday, did not have noticeable injuries. The woman was 1.6 meters tall.
The Tochigi Prefectural Police are trying to identify her and are conducting an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
A 47-year old man found the box on the side of a prefectural road about 10 km from the Sanotanuma Interchange of Kita-Kanto Expressway while he was driving to work.
