Colombia nabs oldest drug mule

A Spanish senior citizen has earned the dubious distinction of becoming the oldest drug mule ever busted in Colombia.

Barcelona native Jose Molla, 78, apparently decided that being on the wrong side of the law was worth the risk — until he was busted last week in Bogota’s El Dorado Airport loaded with 27 capsules of cocaine, police said Wednesday.

It is not very common for cops to find the elderly working as mules. Police said Molla looked nervous as he tried to smuggle out the illegal drugs. An X-ray revealed 400 grams of cocaine packed inside his body.

He is currently locked up in Bogota’s La Picota prison.
