BEIJING – Upper House lawmaker Antonio Inoki left for North Korea Thursday.
The former professional wrestler will arrive in North Korea via Beijing. He is slated to attend a ceremony to mark the 60th anniversary of the Korean War armistice.
Inoki is also expected to hold talks with senior North Korean officials during his stay. He has visited the North many times.
Inoki won a seat in the House of Councilors election Sunday, returning to national politics after an 18-year hiatus. He ran on the ticket of Nippon Ishin no Kai (Japan Restoration Party).
