A 40-year-old man who was arrested last month for trespassing in a school in Kanagawa Prefecture has been slapped with a fresh warrant for allegedly stealing high school girls' clothing at various locations, police said.

They seized nearly 90 high school clothing items — ranging from blazers and white blouses to physical education outfits and even frilled cheerleader uniforms — from Yasushi Uehara's home in the city of Sagamihara.

Uehara has owned up to the thefts, the police said, adding the suspect, at the very least, stole items from schools in Tokyo, Saitama, Kanagawa, Shiga and Nara prefectures.

Uehara was initially arrested red-handed on Feb. 23 after a teacher at a Kanagawa public high school saw him sneak onto the premises.

Police later discovered a mountain of stolen schoolgirls' clothing in his home, leading to his additional arrest warrant Wednesday.
