Chinese traveling to Japan from September to December plunged 44 percent from the year before to 190,000 as the feud over the Senkaku Islands heated up, the Immigration Bureau said in a preliminary report.
"The number of Chinese tourists appears to have fallen because Japan nationalized the Senkaku Islands last September," an official in the bureau said Tuesday.
