Kameda Seika Co., a major maker of rice crackers and snacks, said Friday it will establish a joint venture next month in Vietnam with major Vietnamese rice snack producer Thien Ha Corp.
The joint venture in Hanoi, the capital of the fast-growing Southeast Asian nation, will be Kameda’s fourth base in Asia other than Japan, after enterprises in Tianjin and Qingdao, China, and in Thailand.
The new firm, Thien Ha Kameda Joint Stock Co., will be owned 30 percent by Kameda and 60 percent by Thien Ha.
Tran Van Ly, who heads a Thien Ha subsidiary, will have the rest.
The new company plans to build a factory near Hanoi and start its operations next April.
