LONDON — A new book bringing fresh insight into the death of Tokyo hostess Lucie Blackman has been written by London-based journalist Clare Campbell.

She was able to see Blackman's diaries as well as other family documents in compiling an account of the victim's time in Tokyo and her abduction by serial rapist Joji Obara.

The book, "Tokyo Hostess," raises the possibility that Blackman, who arrived in Japan in May 2000 and died in July 2000, could have been seeking work as a hostess in Japan as early as 1999 without her family knowing about it.
