Established in the United States in 1987, the EO is a global network of young entrepreneurs who run businesses with annual sales exceeding $1 million. It currently has a membership of more than 12,000, with 167 chapters in 52 countries.

In Japan, Yoshito Hori, the president of GLOBIS School of Management and Globis Capital Partners, became the founder and established the first branch in Asia in October 1995. Currently, EO JAPAN has grown to become an organization of more than 400 members, divided into six chapters in Tokyo, Osaka etc.

The Global Student Entrepreneur Awards (GSEA) was established in 1998 at the University of St. Louis as a competition for students who are enrolled in university or graduate school. Currently EO oversees its operations.

EO JAPAN, which has been participating in the World Congress since 2014, actively encourages members to participate in the tournament, considering the management of GSEA as a channel for social contribution and fostering the education of its members. Participants regard GSEA as a valuable competition as it provides an opportunity to meet student entrepreneurs both in Japan and overseas.

After the qualifying round in Tokyo and Osaka, one winner will be selected at the Japan convention to represent the nation at the international event in Macau in April 2019, where 50 or more student entrepreneurs will gather.

Discovering global talent
At the World Congress held in Toronto, Canada, in 2018, GSEA’s qualifying and final selections were held at the Leaders Conference (GLC), where 1,500 student entrepreneurs and EO leaders gathered from 55 countries. Focusing solely on student entrepreneurs, GSEA is a unique competition that attracts global attention.
