Yamaha Motor has released Vol.14 Hands Like His Father: Inheriting Skills and Spirit, the latest addition to our Moving You documentary series introducing our work to realize our corporate mission of creating Kando.*

Vol. 14 presents the bond between a father and son from a Yamaha dealership in Taiwan. The son triumphed in Taiwan’s national Yamaha motorcycle mechanic competition and earned the right to represent his country at the 2018 Yamaha World Technician Grand Prix, the biennial contest where the top technicians compete against their counterparts from around the world. As the youngest entry, the camera follows him and his father as they speak on the pride and passion they have for their profession.

The father is an accomplished technician in his own right and also represented Taiwan at the competition in 2005, taking 2nd. Yamaha Motor Taiwan also provides extensive support and training towards fostering the next generation of leaders at Yamaha dealerships nationwide, so with this assistance, the young technician devoted himself to polishing his craft.

The father quietly but lovingly watches over his son in his challenge; the son looks up to his father with respect and gratitude. This is a story of their bond as they embarked on an attempt to be crowned the best in the world.

*Kando is a Japanese word for the simultaneous feelings of deep satisfaction and intense excitement that we experience when we encounter something of exceptional value.
