Event schedule for "Jinseki Summer School 2018" confirmed
Teachers invited from Switzerland, a country known for its excellent boarding schools!

We are pleased to announce that the event schedule for “Jinseki Summer School 2018”, an event held by the Next Educational Environment Development (Jinsekikogen-cho, Hiroshima Prefecture), has been confirmed. For this event, teachers at the prestigious John F. Kennedy International School in Switzerland will be invited.

This 2-week summer school lets your children aged from 5 to 12 years old spend time with native English speakers in an English-speaking environment and improve their fluency in the language. In addition to the academic program based on the curriculum of prestigious boarding schools in Switzerland and the original popular program of Tokyo International School, there are many activities enriching your children’s summer vacation, including ones in which the participants can enjoy sports with top-class athletes.

●Academic program (recommended for native English speakers)
The education program held by the teachers from John F. Kennedy International School in Switzerland is based on the International Primary Curriculum of the school. In the program, the participants will study geography, mathematics and PSHE* while developing a more international way of thinking. As the program is designed to provide the participants with a sense of accomplishing a project through cooperative activities, they are able to learn what working together as a team is like and expand their circle of friends through the summer school.
* PSHE (Physical Social Health Education): The class combining the nature of physical education and moral education in Japan

●English program
The original English education program is held by teachers from Tokyo International School. The participants will spend 5 hours in an English-speaking environment each day (from 9am to 2pm, including lunch time). Based on a single topic chosen for the program, the participants will learn English from many aspects. A certificate of completion is given to the participants on the final day, along with the work they completed during the program. The program is also suitable for children who have just started to learn English.

●Sports activity program
The program provides the participants with the sense of unity and excitement of teamwork and the fun to take on new challenges through sports activities. UNITED SPORTS FOUNDATION, a group promoting sports activities and the fun that accompanies them under the theme of “One World, One Team”, takes part in the program. As top-class athletes offer the participants hands-on help, children who are new to sports activities can also enjoy this program.

●Various other activities
There are many activities along with the ones abovementioned such as stargazing in the beautiful nature of Jinseki Kogen and a traditional performing arts concert.

●Internship for students studying abroad
As part of their internship program, high school students currently studying abroad will participate in the summer school as staff members. It is a good opportunity for children to know what it’s like to live outside of Japan and develop an interest in studying overseas.

Former Headmaster of the Dragon School, Oxford
Served as Headmaster in Solefield School, Sevenoaks (1986-1997) and Edge Grove, Herts (1997-2002) before becoming Headmaster of the Dragon School from 2002 to 2017. Was made Executive Director of St. Andrew’s School, Turi, Kenya, as well as Education Committee Chairperson of the Independent Preparatory Schools Association (IAPS) and Chairperson of The UK Boarding Schools’ Association. Along with the activities abovementioned, participates in inspections for the UK Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI).

Ikuko Newell Tsuboya
Representative of Tokyo International School Group Co. Ltd.
Established the Tokyo International School in 1995, and served as the chairperson of the school. Established International Secondary School (NPO) in 2000, and served as the chairperson of the school. Served as a member of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Asia Pacific Regional Council in 2012 (currently serves as a Japanese ambassador of International Baccalaureate). Joined the Education Rebuilding Implementation Council of the Cabinet Office from October 2015 (currently serves as an advisor for the Education Rebuilding Implementation Council).
