“Award of Excellence” given to The Japan Times On Sunday in annual Best of News Design Competition

Tokyo, June 19, 2018 – The Japan Times, Ltd. (Minato-ku, Tokyo. President: Takeharu Tsutsumi) is pleased to announce that its Sunday newspaper, The Japan Times On Sunday, has received an Award of Excellence for News Design (pages) in the 39th Society for News Design Annual Creative Competition run by the American-based Society of News Design. The award was given to the front page of The Japan Times On Sunday published on Jan. 22, 2017. It is the fifth time for The Japan Times On Sunday to receive this award.

The Society for News Design, which was founded in 1979, is an international organization consisting of some 1,500 news media professionals and visual communicators — specifically those who create print/web/mobile publications and products.
