We refreshed our concept “Brew for Future” to reflect who we are today and to symbolize our future.

Tsunan, Niigata (December 8th, 2021) — Tsunan sake brewery, founded in 1996, is pleased to announce the launch of Tsunan, its newest sustainable-based brand in Japan. With a core mission “Brew for future”, Tsunan is more than just a Japanese sake, it is a lifestyle. Proudly rooted in Tsunan, Niigata, our sake embodies the spirit of coexistence and the remarkable quality found in the region.

Tsunan town is located in the southernmost part of Niigata Prefecture along the border with Nagano Prefecture, where the Chikuma River becomes the Shinano River. In addition to a long winter and having one of the heaviest snowfalls in Japan, Tsunan’s summers are marked by cool northwest winds and a pleasant highland-like climate. This combination makes Tsunan’s climate perfect for sake production, and Tsunan Sake Brewery is devoted to taking full advantage of Tsunan’s environmental conditions for its sake.

“つなん Tsunan”ー sustainable-brand sake series only using community resources
They are terroir sake series, brewed by local people with community rice and water. With the aim of coexistence with forests and animals, the new logo reflects Japanese antelopes (Capricornis crispus), one of our sakagura brewery guests. “Tsunan” represents its purity and perfection. Featuring local rice varietals, Haku, Beni, Ai, and Kogane, each bottle is brewed to coexist with nature and animals around the Tsunan area.
