Tsunan Sake Brewery Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Tsunan Town, Nakauonuma District, Niigata Prefecture; President: Kengo Suzuki; hereinafter “Tsunan Sake Brewery”) held the “Tsunan Sake Brewery Sunflower Festival 2025” on its brewery grounds from Friday, August 1, to Sunday, August 24, 2025. The event attracted many visitors from the local community as well as from across Japan and overseas, and concluded with great success.

This event was organized in conjunction with the “Tsunan Sunflower Plaza 2025,” hosted by the Tsunan Town Tourism Association, and aimed to promote the potential of Tsunan’s local resources and sake culture through brewery tours, tastings and sales of limited-edition sake, and sales of sake lees sweets and fermented foods.

Event Highlights

1. Tastings and Sales of Limited-Edition and Award-Winning Sake
Guests enjoyed exclusive “Summer Sake” offerings available only at the festival, along with award-winning sake from domestic and international competitions, showcasing the charm of Tsunan’s sake.

2. Sake Lees Sweets and Fermented Foods
Sweets made with sake lees and original products in limited-edition packaging were well received and became popular souvenirs for tourists.

3. Sunflower Blooming and Seed Collection
Sunflowers planted by visitors during earlier planting events were in full bloom during the festival. The harvested seeds will be used for next year’s planting and distributed to future visitors.

4. Exchange with Meiji University
On August 20, Associate Professor Takamine Kawashima from the School of Information and Communication at Meiji University, along with his seminar students, visited the brewery under the guidance of Ms. Terui, a former member of the Regional Revitalization Cooperation Corps and current Tsunan Town migration coordinator. They toured the brewery and discussed regional revitalization and tourism promotion. Professor Kawashima commented on the potential for Tsunan Town and the brewery to collaborate on larger-scale events in the future, possibly involving overseas media, and provided valuable suggestions for regional promotion.

Future Outlook
Tsunan Sake Brewery will continue to contribute to promoting the charm of Tsunan Town through events and product development that leverage local resources. Building on the experience of this year’s festival, we plan to explore various events in the future, including the continuation of the Sunflower Festival, to create opportunities for interaction among local residents, tourists, students, and businesses.
