Though not quite as old, Pollack was, nevertheless, a local treasure, a one-time newspaper reporter who went on to work in public relations and statistics for the Philadelphia Warriors, who later moved to San Francisco and Oakland. Pollack stayed to join the 76ers, who relocated from Syracuse.
