A foreign woman writing about Japan's Emperor accession ("Compromising on Imperial succession reform" in the Sept. 13 edition) demonstrates her profound lack of understanding of Japanese history and the traditions that have protected Japan from conquest for thousands of years.

She sees the Emperor as a useless ornament and symbol of male domination of women. It is far from this.

Japan has already gone too far in letting down its defenses in favor of political correctness. Soon, Korea and China will once again threaten Japan. Japan should be moving toward reinvigorating its warrior spirit, not weakening it. Build Bushido, not feminism.
