On an early weekday afternoon at the shops lined up in front of JR Ise station, business was fairly brisk.
Visitors to nearby Ise Shrine stopped off at the numerous souvenir shops, which boast local agricultural products ranging from miso paste and oysters to craft beer and world-famous beef from the prefectural city of Matsusaka.
Long a popular destination for Japanese tourists, the Ise Shrine area has seen huge increases in overseas tourists these past two years.
