Police on Wednesday took into custody a South Korean man in connection with a recent suspected explosion inside a stall in a public restroom at Yasukuni Shrine in Tokyo.

The shrine is seen as a symbol of Imperial Japan's militarism before and during World War II.

Chon Chang-han, 27, returned to South Korea shortly after the incident on Nov. 23, but flew back to Tokyo's Haneda airport on Wednesday morning, investigative sources said.
