Tokyo Electric Power Co. said Friday it has restarted one of the three experimental water-filtration lines at the stricken Fukushima No. 1 nuclear plant in Fukushima Prefecture.
The other two lines in the Advanced Liquid Processing System are expected to go back online in June, Tepco officials said.
Tepco revived the line by replacing its degraded radiation filters with new ones. The line stopped in March after it was unable to remove radioactive materials from the tainted water properly.
ALPS can remove all radioactive substances from water except tritium.
