Japan, Russia hold first ‘two-plus-two’

JIJI

Japan and Russia will hold on Saturday the first meeting of their foreign and defense ministers, discussing ways to promote exchanges and anti-terror cooperation.

The meeting will involve Foreign Ministers Fumio Kishida and Sergei Lavrov, and Defense Ministers Itsunori Onodera and Sergei Shoigu. The foreign ministers and defense chiefs will meet separately Friday.

Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and President Vladimir Putin agreed to start the ministerial security dialogue at a meeting in Moscow in April.
