Railways in Tokyo announced Tuesday a new timetable set to come into effect March 16 when the Tokyu Toyoko Line and Tokyo Metro Fukutoshin Line are to be connected.

According to Tokyu Corp. and Tokyo Metro Co., Tokyo's Ikebukuro will be linked with Yokohama in 38 minutes at the fastest.

The new connection will provide 20 trains per hour originating from Yokohama during the weekday morning rush period and 16 Yokohama-bound trains during the evening rush period.

Thirty-four new trains linking Yokohama and Shinjuku-Sanchome will also be offered daily.

Access to Motomachi-Chukagai, near Yokohama Chinatown, from Tokyo, will also be eased with the connected Fukutoshin-Toyoko service.

The Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line, now connected with the Toyoko Line, will end at Nakameguro, ceasing operations to Yokohama.
