Major mayonnaise maker Kewpie Corp. said Wednesday it will establish a subsidiary in Indonesia next month as part of its expansion in Asia.

P.T. Kewpie Indonesia in West Java Province is capitalized at about ¥1.5 billion and is scheduled to start production of dressings and mayonnaise in the second half of 2014.

The processed food market in Indonesia is expected to grow along with the increase in its middle-income population, it said.

Kewpie has production and marketing operations in China, Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam.

It aims for sales of more than ¥20 billion in Asian markets in fiscal 2015.
