Honda recalls 807,000 U.S. cars

Honda will recall 807,000 vehicles in the United States and 52,300 in Canada to fix a defect that could allow them to roll when the driver thinks the transmission is in park.

Honda said Wednesday it was aware of two incidents in which people received “minor injuries” as a result of the defect.

After investigating several complaints, it determined that the ignition interlock mechanism can be damaged or worn to the point where it is possible to remove the key when the transmission hasn’t been shifted to park.

The recall affects approximately 341,300 Odysseys and 271,400 Pilots from the 2003-2004 model years and roughly 246,600 Acura MDX vehicles from the 2003-2006 model years.
