London bakery Lola's Cupcakes emphasizes freshness, but the sweets on offer at its recently opened Tokyo store are disappearing almost as soon as they come out of the oven.
You'll have to line up early if you want to try one, particularly the most popular Classic Red Velvet cupcake.
The new Harajuku branch also offers some Japan-exclusives, including the creamy Tokyo vanilla, a surprisingly sugary green tea and a tart blood orange cake. Each comes in two sizes — regular (¥460) or tiny (¥250) — but they're usually gone by late afternoon.
