‘Asaba’s Assimilation: Katsumi Asaba Exhibition’

Art Director Katsumi Asaba is best known for designing the official poster for the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympics. Born in Kanagawa Prefecture in 1940, Asaba studied at the Kuwasawa Design School before working at the Keinosuke Sato Typography Studio and Light Publicity.

In 1975, he launched his own Katsumi Asaba Design Studio, and has since been designing for major corporations, such as Suntory, Seibu Department Store and Takeda Pharmaceutical Company.

This exhibition of Asaba’s recent works, includes “Misawa Design Bauhaus,” an interpretation of Bauhaus design, and a new cover for the latest edition of Eiko Hosoe’s photo book on Yukio Mishima, the “Ordeal of Roses.”
