Farmers from all over Japan will assemble in Shiba Park in Tokyo's Minato Ward on Nov. 11 to join the Earth & Peace Festival — an event that will appeal to fans of organic veggies everywhere.

The festival has been organized by volunteers called Operation Seeding and is a followup to the traditional mame-maki bean-throwing festival that was held for the first time this year on Feb. 3, in the hope that society will change if people sow seeds.

Farmers will be selling various organic fruit and vegetables as part of the festival's farmers' market, while tasty organic dishes will also be on offer. Health-conscious people who love a tipple will be glad to learn that both organic sake and beer will be available.

Professional singer Yae, who grows vegetables herself in Chiba Prefecture, has organized a live outdoor concert from 1-6 p.m. that will feature many different acts.

The event will take place even if it rains. Entry is free. Shiba Park is a 10-minute walk from JR Hamamatsucho Station. For details, see www.tanemaki2007.jp (Japanese only).
