Leading publisher Kadokawa Corp. and Nico Nico Douga video portal provider Dwango Co. integrated their management Wednesday, aiming to capitalize on their respective business strengths and expand operations in Asia and other regions.

The companies, which formed a capital alliance in 2011, became subsidiaries of newly established holding company Kadokawa Dwango Corp.

Tatsuo Sato, formerly an adviser at Kadokawa, became president of the new entity.

Kadokawa, established in 1945, is one of the nation's biggest publishers in fields ranging from literature, dictionaries and entertainment magazines to production of motion pictures and animation, while Dwango is the operator of the popular Nico Nico video-streaming website.
