A fire broke out Monday night on a fishing boat about 20 km off the coast of Otsuchi Bay, Iwate Prefecture, and two members of the crew are missing. One of the other 14 rescued members was injured.

The Japan Coast Guard is searching for the missing pair, Sanji Anbe, a 64-year old resident of Minamisanriku in Miyagi Prefecture, and Kenta Minei, a 28-year old resident of Rikuzentakata in Iwate Prefecture.

The 14 rescued crew members were either near the bow of the vessel or on a smaller boat to take refuge. One of them suffered burns and was treated.

The saury fishing boat was headed to Kushiro Bay in Hokkaido after leaving Onahama Bay in the city of Iwaki, Fukushima Prefecture.
