A 14-year-old junior high school student, Rennosuke Fukuda, won first prize in the junior division at the Yehudi Menuhin International Violin Competition in Austin, Texas, on Saturday.

The violin contest for young players, known as the Menuhin Competition, has seen many winners go on to become international soloists.

Daniel Lozakovitj, 12, of Sweden won second prize and Ludvig Gudim, 15, of Norway came in third.
