Guinea postpones legislative polls

Guinea’s legislative elections, which were due to be held Tuesday, have been postponed until Saturday for “final adjustments,” a U.N. official said.

The delay is the latest postponement of the legislative poll, initially due to have been held within six months of the swearing-in of President Alpha Conde in December 2010.

Disagreements between opposing factions on how the elections should be organized have sparked nationwide protests that have left more than 50 dead since 2011.
