Fast Retailing Co. said Monday it will open two Uniqlo outlets in the Bangladeshi capital of Dhaka on July 5, its first in the country.

Clothing items to be offered at the shops will be manufactured and marketed in Bangladesh as part of the company's plan to create jobs and contribute to the local society, it said.

The two shops will be run by Grameen Uniqlo Ltd., a joint venture set up in August 2011 with the Dhaka-based Grameen Bank, a provider of microfinance credits.

The venture, which has been organizing door-to-door Uniqlo clothes marketing by Bangladeshi women in rural areas, will now start targeting people in urban areas. Retail prices will start at the equivalent of ¥255 to make Uniqlo items affordable to people in low-income brackets, it said.
