Fujitsu Ltd. may sell its main semiconductor plant in Kuwana, Mie Prefecture, sources said Tuesday.
The major electronics maker is mulling the sale of the plant to a firm it plans to set up with a Taiwanese company and Panasonic Corp., they said.
The plant mainly produces system-on-chip products, which serve as the brains for automobiles and home electronics.
Fujitsu aims to improve its profitability by separating its SoC business, which has been hurt by price drops.
