In 1946, as Japan was still reeling from World War II, cartoonist Machiko Hasegawa provided the nation with some much-needed light relief when she conceived the mega-hit manga "Sazae-san." To celebrate the title's 70th anniversary, this exhibition honors the life of Hasegawa, who was also Japan's first professional female manga artist.

Hasegawa's lifework, from childhood sketches through decades of writing the popular manga, will be displayed, including 100 original "Sazae-san" works. Fans may particularly enjoy the faithfully recreated room based on the world of Sazae-san, not to mention the opportunity to purchase exclusive memorabilia.
