Why have I not received my registration email yet?

In some cases, our mail might have been routed to your spam folder.

It is also possible that our automated mail is being blocked by your Internet provider.

In the case when a customer cannot create an account because of blocked mail,  our customer service division can create an account ID on your behalf.

If your confirmation mail has not arrived after 10 minutes of applying, and it’s not in your spam folder, please use this form to notify us.

What are The Japan Times Membership Services?

Signing up for a free membership makes you eligible for a range of online services. Non-subscribers can read up to 20 stories per month for free, while paid subscribers can access further content depending on their plan specifications. There is also an option to receive daily email updates.

How much does registration cost?

Registration is free.

 

Do I need to register each month?

No, you only need to register once. However, you do need to be logged in when reading so we can recognize you as a registered member.

Can I change my registered information?

Yes. You can edit account information such as profile details, email address and password here: My Account page.

I’ve forgotten my password. What should I do?

You can reset your password via this link.

I’ve entered my e-mail address and password but can’t log in.

Double check to see if you’ve entered your email address and password correctly. If you’ve forgotten your password, follow the instructions at this link  to reset it.

How do I cancel my membership?

You can cancel your membership at any time. When you send the cancellation request, you will stop receiving Email Updates from The Japan Times immediately. However, your membership will remain active until the end of the month.

To cancel your membership with The Japan Times Membership Services:

  1. Access your My Account page.

  2. Click “Cancel membership” to access the membership cancellation page.

  3. Click “Cancel membership.”

Membership will continue until the end of the month. If you change your mind before then, you can withdraw your request to cancel your membership and continue your Japan Times Membership Services uninterrupted.

I’ve changed my mind! I want to continue my membership. What do I do?

Your membership will not be terminated until the end of the month in which you requested cancellation. Until then, you can withdraw your request to cancel your membership from the My Account page.

To withdraw your request to cancel your Japan Times Membership Services:

  1. Access your My Account page.

  2. Click “Withdrawal of request to cancel membership” to access the withdrawal cancellation page.

  3. Click “Withdrawal of request to cancel membership.”

What should I do if I want to change which Email Updates I receive or stop receiving Email Updates?

If you wish to make changes to the types of Email Updates you signed up for or stop receiving them, please access your My Account page. Click Account information to edit your preferences.

Can I register for The Japan Times Membership Services with a feature phone?

No, please register on a PC or smart mobile device.
