Emergency landing made in Naha


A Northwest Airlines plane bound for Tokyo from Manila made an emergency landing Wednesday at Naha airport after a medical crisis occurred involving a passenger, the transport ministry said.

According to the Land, Infrastructure and Transport Ministry, the Boeing 747, which was bound for Narita airport, landed at Naha at around 11:38 a.m.

City officials said there was a call for an ambulance from the airport for a 24-year-old Filipino who is believed to have had a stroke.

The officials said the man was conscious while being taken to a hospital and his situation appears not to be life-threatening.

Northwest Airlines Flight 28 departed Manila at around 9:28 a.m.. After handing over the sick passenger, it left for Narita about 12:50 p.m. and arrived after 3:30 p.m.
