A scandal involving Yomiuri Giants pitchers who bet on matches is heaping criticism, too, on Nippon Professional Baseball for its handling of the affair.

The case, which is far from resolved, has fueled speculation that other players in Japan's professional baseball have connections with the underworld.

Investigative sources say the three players admitted to gambling with playing cards in the locker room on a daily basis. They also failed to explain emails allegedly sent to known figures in the gambling underworld.
